After Christmas Reflections: The Pause Before the New Year

The wrapping paper is cleared away, the holiday meals have been enjoyed, and the house has settled into a quietness. Christmas has passed, leaving behind a mix of warmth, joy, and maybe a touch of exhaustion. This is the in-between—a rare pause before the fresh start of a new year.

I find myself reflecting on the season, not just the celebrations but the moments in between. This Christmas, like many others, was filled with love, laughter, and the occasional chaos that comes with trying to make everything “just right.” But as the glow of the holidays begins to fade, I’m reminded of the beauty in imperfection. It wasn’t about the perfect gifts or the most elaborate meals—it was about connection, gratitude, and the small, quiet moments that often mean the most.

Now, as we get closer to the new year, I feel a mix of emotions. There’s a part of me that’s ready to dive into new goals and plans, but there’s also a part that wants to linger in this moment a little longer. This is a time for reflection—on what worked, what didn’t, and what I want to carry forward into the new year.

Looking Ahead

As I think about the year ahead, I’m leaning into intentionality. I want to create space for the things that truly matter—building deeper connections, prioritizing my well-being, and continuing to grow as a person.

I’m also thinking about how I can continue to help and inspire others. Sharing my journey has been a powerful way to connect with women who are navigating their own challenges. In the coming year, I want to focus even more on creating resources, sharing stories, and building a community where resilience and independence are celebrated.

Practical Plans

Before January 1 arrives, I’m giving myself permission to dream a little and plan a lot. Here’s what I’m focusing on:

1. Reflection: Journaling about this past year—the highs, the lows, and the lessons learned.

2. Simplification: Clearing physical and mental clutter to start the year with clarity.

3. Goal Setting: Creating actionable, meaningful goals that align with my values.

4. Self-Care: Resting and recharging so I can enter the new year with energy and focus.

As we close out this chapter, I want to encourage you to take a moment for yourself. Reflect on what this season has meant to you and what you want to bring into the next. Let’s not rush into the new year without honoring where we’ve been.

Here’s to the beauty of the in-between, the power of reflection, and the promise of what’s to come.

How are you feeling as we approach the new year? What are your hopes and plans? Let’s keep the conversation going—I’d love to hear from you. Thank you for another year of reading my blogs, another year of making memories, and sharing not only my journey but the journey and growth of your journey as well.

Sending peace, love and happiness your way today and always.
